 The eminent scholar of Islam, Maulana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, provided a brief but perhaps one of the best explanations if not the best, on the subject of Whirling, as practiced by the Whirling Dervishes of Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi.

This explanation was part of a Question & Answer session during a public lecture in Singapore entitled "Longing for the Divine" on Tuesday 9 June 2009 at Singapore Expo Conference Hall.
